20 Weeks and 1st Ultrasound

Finally got to meet our little boy! Since my pregnancy has been smooth and I decided to have him at home, I didn’t have an ultrasound until later in my pregnancy. 20 weeks! It did feel like forever ( I saw some other friends go in right away and did feel a bit jelly at times) BUT it was worth the wait!

Wanna keep reading and see more photos….(this way)

Gender Reveal Party!!

BeforeCakeCutFMN

Finally the day came when we found out the gender of our baby! We did a simple blood test with MaterniT21 (for detecting fetal chromosomal abnormalities along with the gender between 11-14 weeks) We chose to go with this because it was just a blood test and not having to go in the amniotic sac to get a check up is what I would rather prefer. Seems to be a new’ish test. Only a few years out and thought, why not!
Seems like the moment the sperm touches the egg the sex of the baby is already decided/chosen (how ever you like to say it) This was news to me! For some reason I thought it would gradually develop?! Pretty amazing that you can 99.9% tell the sex of the baby at such an early stage.

We asked our midwife to send us an envelope with the “top secret info” and I took it to the nearest bakery. It was so last minute too since we were so eager to know and it was the weekend. But it all worked out!
Instead of having a large gathering we just had family around and that was also perfect. My husband was a bit iffy on doing a “gender reveal” anything (he wanted to just open the envelope) but at the end he and I really enjoyed the whole experience.

Don’t want to give it away if you haven’t seen the video yet….BUT
We are so thrilled to have what we are having!

9 Week Update and Traveling During First Trimester

Heading out to Japan and been reading a lot on what I should do in the plane like:
The only real risk of a long flight is a DVT (deep venous thrombosis) or blood clot. This is a risk for all travelers on long flights, but pregnant women are at higher risk. To help prevent this from happening, see the tips below. Below are a few travel tips to pregnant women on the go:
1. Book an Aisle Seat – It’s easier access for your hourly walks and trips to the restroom.
2. Prevent Air Sickness – If you are still in the morning sickness phase of pregnancy, air travel may make things worse. Ask your practitioner for an anti-nausea medication to take with you.
3. Wear Pantyhose – Some practitioners recommend that you wear support stockings to increase circulation and prevent a blood clot from developing in your leg.
4. Take a Walk – Avoid being immobilized for long periods of time.
5.Take an empty water bottle with you in carry-on luggage and fill it up after you get through security.
6. Go Gas Free – Don’t drink or eat any gas-producing items (carbonated beverages, refried beans, etc.) before or during your flight. Entrapped gas expands at higher altitudes and can give you a stomachache.
7. Carry snacks and know your pressure points!

Quick update:
I found a midwife and I love her/them! Am feeling slightly tired and a bit of nausea but nothing major. Eating mini meals through out the day. Loads of fruits makes me happy!

Was worried a little about traveling and feeling sick, but it was better than I thought! If you feel like you will have a harder time then don’t force yourself! Talk with your doctor/mid wife before you book any flights.

I’m Pregnant

I’m pregnant. It is a hard secret to keep. From day one you just want to tell everyone (which some people do) but since it was quite a struggle to get here, I thought I should keep it to ourselves until we felt we were at the healthiest we could be to announce it. And now is the time! Finally!
My husband and I couldn’t be happier! We still cannot believe it. I can kinda tell something is growing inside of me but honestly we haven’t done an ultrasound and I haven’t felt anything move yet so it still kinda feels surreal in a way. BUT! I am feeling the pregnancy vibes so I am learning how to take it easy and be as healthy as I can be for this little creation inside me. For some reason though, this little baby has made it some what easy on me. It makes me crave fruits and veggies! It’s a healthy one.
I posted up the video on to my YouTube account earlier today (12:30PM) it is currently 4PM and am overwhelmed once again by all your kind messages. Really brings tears to my eyes reading that this video made you happy or even cry with joy!!
I have said it before, putting up personal videos is one of the hardest things to do but it also is the most rewarding. Thank you guys for that. Cannot wait to share everything I am going through with you all!!! Hope you don’t mind❤︎
